The Triangle's End

New York: Exposition Press, 1954. First edition. Hardcover. Inscribed by the author on the fly leaf, 'To Miss Harriet Kelly, My journalism instructor, Latin teacher and Graduation Class Sponsor, from William H. Jones with Sincere Appreciation.' Hardcover, red cloth. 79 pp. Near Fine in a Very Good dust jacket. A bright, sharp copy. Four pages with small pencil marginalia, easily erasable, otherwise unmarked. DJ with a crease along the spine; edges lightly rubbed; shallow chipping to spine ends. This copy also includes a 3 page ALS from Jones to Kelly thanking her for help and presenting her with the book. Other laid-in items include the original press release from the publisher and two original newspaper reviews, and fragments of the draft of a letter that Kelly was writing to Jones in response to reading the novel -- she is clearly very proud of him. One of the reviews mentions the importance that Kelly had on Jones' writing career. A rare Pittsburgh novel by an African-American -- OCLC locates only 14 copies worldwide. William 'Money' Jones was a Pittsburgh car washer, maintenance man and garbage collector who set this book, his first book, in his hometown. Near Fine / Very Good. Item #0086859
