Light shelfwear, very light rubbing to spine-ends. Interior unmarked. With an inscription by H.J. Heinz that reads "To Clifford S. Heinz from his father, Chicago 6/17/97." Heinz had a warehouse distribution plant located in Chicago. The Heinz company also too part in the Chicago World's Fair, The Colombian Exposition. In the 1890s Heinz became a devout believer in the pure Food Movement which was in direct opposition with many western meat packers. Ten years after Heinz presented his youngest son Cifford with this book, Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle", an expose of the meat packing industry and the Chicago stockyards in particular, was published.
