Glacier Pilot -- inscribed by Bob Reeve, Lowell Thomas Jr., et al.

New York: Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1971. Hardcover. Later printing, 1971 (first published 1957). Inscribed by Bob Reeve in Anchorage in 1972 with a drawing (caption: Flying beats work!), inscription reads 'A Warm welcome to Alaska to my fellow G. B. Al Bennett, with my very best wishes for an ever sparkling life and all happy landings" -also inscribed (with airplane drawing) by Dick Reeve, another inscription from Bob Chernick, and also inscribed by Lowell Thomas Jr., "Greetings and all the best to pioneer flyer Al Bennett" -- inscriptions are to Alfred Bennett, a pioneer in flight-school aviation, who was at one time a vice president at Taylorcraft light-plane company and who ran a flight school in Hightstown, NJ where he was friendly with a number of luminaries in the aviation world including Wolfgang Langewiesche, Eric Sloane, and William Piper (of Piper Cub fame). Al Bennett's children were also pioneers of a sort - both his son and daughter were the youngest people ever to pilot a plane solo. Purchased from Al Bennett Jr. Dust jacket somewhat worn and chipped. Very Good / good. Item #C000021203
