Small 8vo, bound in early 19th century half leather and marbled boards, pp. (16) 303, with full title page and title pages for each treatise. Early handwriting identifying author as John Collinges on the title page of The Excellent Woman (possibly in Collinges' hand), some foxing to outer leaves, age toning to text, binding very good but rubbed. OCLC locates 4 copies, with the copy at Columbia noted as having its second sub- title page signed, but this may refer to printed identification of the author and not a signature. The other three copies in OCLC are at the British Library, the British Library Reference Collections, and the British Library of Political and Economic Science. Wing (2nd ed., 1994), C5329 -- no copies currently on the market and none at auction in past 30 plus years. Collinges (1623-1690) was an English minister, associated with the district of Norwich where he was part of the household of Sir John Hobart for some time. He was an avid controversialist and published a number of tracts, sermons and exigeses. Very Good. Item #C000029014
