Issue Kit' box, dozens of snapshots of army life first in boot camp, then in Manila and also New Caledonia, ca. 1942-1945, including photos of life back home and souvenir photos of some of Pvt. Coles's female acquaintances. Currency includes many banknotes: a 50 cent note from the Nederlandsch-Indie Muntbiljet, One Pound note from Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Vingt Francs, Banque de L'Indochine, Chinese money, many paper Japanese centavos and pesos, 5- and 10-Yen notes, Deux Francs note from Tresorerie de Noumea, Nouvelle Caledonie, a 100,000 mark Reichsbanknote. Included is a Band-Aid tin full of foreign coins, tokens, etc., a Pocket Guide to New Caledonia, a soldier's miniature New Testament, a Certificate of Retention and Customs Declaration for a 'Jap pistol' dated 12/6/45, 2 newsletters called the Barnes Scoop, one on the fall of Tunis and the other on an Italian surrender, a snap shot of a pretty Philippino woman, another photo of a destroyed Japanese temple, etc. Very Good.
