The Lost Pittsburgh School (Signed first edition)
Pittsburgh, PA: Bessemer Press, 2011. First edition. Hardcover. Square 4to, black cloth hardcover, no dust jacket, as issued. Illustrated throughout in color and b&w. Light bowing to book and mild discoloration to boards, with contents bright and clean. Signed by Conrad to title page, with remaining pages unmarked. This book, along with a 2011 UnSmoke exhibition in Braddock, was the culmination of a years-long collaborative project spearheaded by David Conrad. This satirical work acts as a savvy and savage parody on the state of art criticism in relation to Pittsburgh artists. The Pittsburgh City Paper review said of the exhibition, "Lost Pittsburgh School sends a love letter to our industrial past and to the creative class of our postindustrial present." Conrad described the project as one that “imagined exemplars of an era, vehicles to help us reconceive what is art, and what is Pittsburgh.” This book is extremely scarce; at this writing, we see zero copies online: neither in library holdings nor for sale. Very Good. Item #C000039202
