Rome: 1946. First printing. Paperback. 8vo, wraps, inscribed by author on cover, light wear, very good. The Lithuanian-Polish poet who lived for a while in Vilna was a member of the Polish avant-garde and a member of the underground Komsomol (Communist Leninist Youth), arrested a number of times right before the war for these activities and finally, in Belarus, arrested in 1940 and sent into exile, only to return in 1942, joining the Polish army and fighting in Italy. He remained in Italy in 1946, editing and publishing, including this rare volume of his poetry, but the next year he left for Argentina where he lived till 1959. At some point, he returned to Warsaw, and passed away there in 1981. OCLC locates two copies: Kent State and Penn. In Lithuanian. Very Good. Item #H10433
