The six plates printed in browntone, the first heavily foxed and the others moderately so. Despite the enticing title, these are not paintings by what we think of as modern artists; they look like conservative Academy paintings to us. Paintings unattributed. Oddly very rare in commerce and institutions: we could find no recorded copies using OCLC. Good. Item #H10438
