Something Lighter - inscribed copy?
Boston: Houghton Mifflin, (1924). First American edition. Hardcover. Yellow cloth, good copy, wear and soil to cloth, contents clean. With bookplate of an Esther Marhofer, and an inscription from a "Johnnie" that seems proprietarial enough in tone to merit consideration as being from Bland himself: "To one who has always been an interested listener to stories of the East I am sending 'Something Lighter' and, I blieve, something more interesting than you have heard before. Johnnie, Christmas 1925." Fiction -- or creative nonfiction -- set in the Far East -- Bland spent much time in China and SE Asia during the 1880s-1910s and was a prominent Sinologist.
