The Young Folks Treasury: TREASURE CHEST OF PICTURES (1919) - box with 300 plates

New York: The University Society, ND. Judging from some of the contents, we're guessing this was issued concurrently with the 1917 or the 1919 edition of the Young Folks Treasury set, edited by Hamilton Wright Mabie and others, usually 12 volumes, and we're making the assumption that these are the plates that would have appeared, at least in part, to illustrate volumes in that set. The two-part box measures 8.75 x 6 inches, with title label on top lid. There are probably 250-300 individual plates inside, half in b/w and the others in color, a mixture of photographs, drawings, artworks, illustrations, etc., that illustrate some of the themes found in the set: fairy tales, men and women of achievement, famous people, the animal world, great artworks, travel to foreign countries, history, architecture, fables, etc. The plates are in very good to fine condition and the box is very good with light wear. We were unable to locate any other copies of this in libraries or in the trade. Very rare indeed. Very Good. Item #H13016
