Item #H14584 Typed letter, signed, 1952, discussing her writing habits, etc. Mary Roberts Rinehart.

Typed letter, signed, 1952, discussing her writing habits, etc.

Addressed to Katharine M. Friedel, at the Tribune Review in Greensburg, PA, Rinehart is replying to Friedel's "delightful letter," and answers a few questions: she never does any writing when in her vacation place in Bar Harbor during the summer, because she writes all her books in longhand, and the summer is for rest from that "laborious process." She must have also been asked whether she'll ever write another "Tish" book (a beloved character from 30 years before this), and replies: "I suppose as one gets older one is less in the Tish mood. Then, too, we are not living in a very funny world. I find myself extremely serious and sometimes a little apprehensive. I never let this be reflected in my work but these are, my dear, pretty parlous times!" Rinehart was spent most of her early life around Pittsburgh and Sewickley. Very Good. Item #H14584
