Hardcover. Measuring 6 x 5 inches, with clasp, repurposing a ca. 1865 photo album by filling the 29 slots with what appear to be CDV sized photos, with Ms. Tierney's friends or family all dressed up in vintage clothing and hats to emphasize the 19th century motif. Inscribed in handsome calligraphic hand on the flyleaf: To Pat -- the most eminent Victorian of them all -- with love from her devoted "family." The 29 portraits, printed with a slightly yellow tint, the subjects all exhibiting the somber expressions well known in 19th century photographic portraits, speak of a very laborious effort that's paid off in this small and subtle livre d'artiste. Tierney was at one point engaged (in 1964) to Robert Prunier Davis (1929-2005), a painter, novelist and film-maker, and both of them apparently lived at some point at 60 Sutton Place South, a desirable address. Unclear from online info if they did indeed get -- and stay -- married. Good. Item #H14705

Price: $150.00
