Philip Johnson, Architecture 1949-1965 - inscribed

New York: Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1966. First printing. Hardcover. 11 x 10 inches, cloth in dust jacket, inscribed to Alfred Hunt by Johnson. Alfred Hunt was a metallurgist with a senior position at Alcoa (founded by the Hunt family) in Pittsburgh; Johnson designed by Pittsburgh Plate Glass building in Pittsburgh and other PPG structures that were completed in the early 1980s. But more importantly, Johnson's father invested in Alcoa stock when he was in Cleveland and that investment is the main reason Johnson in his early 20s was a millionaire and independently wealthy. Also bears the blindstamp of Garth Massingill, a local interior decorator. Book is very good with a bit of foxing or spotting to the binding, dust jacket has yellow and shelfwear including some chips and tears. 115 pp, illustrated, some in color. Handsome book with some nice Pittsburgh associations. Very Good / good. Item #H15740
