With bookplates of Alfred C. Howell, a well known bibliophile, and another bibliophile and Grolier Club member, George Livingston Nichols. With tipped in ANS from Jerrold to friend Tom Taylor, a fellow humorist and contributor to Punch as well as Jerrold's own journal, the Illuminated Weekly. A typed transcript also tipped in: My dear Taylor -- My wife had previously disposed of Thursday. Therefore, let us now get well over the labors of Xmas, and then have with you, irrespective of work, the merest rasher and a drop o' the smallest ale. Truly yours, D. Jerrold."
