Almanach de Cocagne pour l'an 1920, 1921 & 1922, inscribed to contributor Jean-Emile Laboureur with note from editor
Paris: Aux Editions de la Sirene, 1920, 1921, 1922. First printing. 3 volumes, 12mo, wraps, the 1920 edition one of 8 hors commerce copies numbered VI to XIII (no. XI) on imperiales de Shidzuoka, the 1921 copy unclear as to the limitation (and also not inscribed), and the 1922 copy with a Justification de Tirage that implies a limitation of 40 copies, but this one not numbered. 1920 is very good with light wear, small chip to blue paper at top of spine, slight spine lean, 1921 is very good with light wear and some mellowing or fading to the pale pink color of the wraps; and 1922 good only with some wear and loss along edges of wraps and to spine, contents good to very good, many pages still unopened and uncut. Two volumes inscribed by Guégan to contributor Jean-Emile Laboureur, who has a full page woodcut in the 1920 & 1921 editions and a full page line drawing in the 1922 edition, plus a page-long letter from Guégan to Laboureur dated October 27, 1920 asking for an illustration for the second (1921) volume of the Almanach de Cockagne and with some other passing remarks on health, the terms of "la Paix" etc. We also found a sheet of notes on the contents in the second volume that might be in Laboureur's hand. Text consists of recipes, food & cooking & dining related poems, essays, etc. with illustrations by many of the great French artists of the time. There were only three of these almanacs published.
