The Sword of Sergestus, a Story of the "Grandeur that was Rome"

PIttsburgh: Scholastic Corporation, 1932. First printing. Paperback. Small quarto (11 x 8.5 inches), pictorial orange wraps, very good, light general soil and wear, 32 pp, illustrated. Very rare, no copies located by OCLC, and rare non-periodical early publication by the Pittsburgh-based Scholastic publishers. Paul L. Anderson was better known as a modernist photographer associated with the Camera Work crowd and good friends with Edward Weston until they had a falling out about focus in photographs (Anderson less, Weston more). Anderson also was prone to writing novels set in ancient Rome, including "Swords in the North" from 1938 that this might be an early part of. Very Good. Item #H16411
