Pamphlets, brochures, design guides, sample books, promotional material for the following companies -- number of items given in parentheses after each company: Hopper (6), Strathmore (3), Weyerhaeuser (14), Hammermill (6), Simpson Lee (7), Kimberly-Clark (4), Curtis (11), Mohawk (3), Warren (8), Champion (23), and miscellaneous catalogs (14) from: Potlatch, Howard Paper Mills, Simpson, Appleton, General Paper Corporation of Pittsburgh, Mead Paper, Neemah Paper, Printing House Inc., Gilbert Papers, Beckett Paper Company, etc. Many have innovative book designs; highlights include some of the Champion Papers catalogs and productions, including their homage to Hermann Zapf, one on Safari, another on Australia; the Curtis "Tweed" catalogs are fun, as are some of the Weyerhaeuser and Mohawk brochures and leaflets. Many are designed for PR people, advertising firms and printers responsible for doing design work for corporations and issuing annual reports, and many feature design elements popular in the 1970s, a real nadir in the history of illustration and typography with its mix of Peter Max, Leroy Nieman, Monty Python, airbrush softcore, wide lapels, lousy haircuts and rep ties.
