Hardcover. 8vo (9,5 x 6.75 inches), full beveled vellum, gilt decorated, very good with general moderate soil to covers, some tiny holes -- worming? -- along joints, contents very good. 154 (2) pp, illustrated. With two 8 x 5 inch stiff gray cards laid in with exquisite floral paintings, with "C P" in pencil at bottom, probably the work of Cordelia Plimpton, the publisher and spouse of the poet; she was one of a group of female artists and artisans in Cincinnati that modernized and transformed the art pottery movement in America. This is a family copy, from the collection of William Richard Perry, an architect in Pittsburgh, who married Plimpton's granddaughter, Cordelia Amanda Plimpton. Pages unopened. Illustrated, including by a number of the female Cincinnati artists with whom Cordelia Plimpton was associated. Florus Plimpton (1830-1886) was a journalist and editor, first associated with the Pittsburgh Dispatch, and from 1866 associated with various Cincinnati newspapers. RARE. Very Good. Item #H17250
