The Lay of the Last Minstrel (1809) with DOUBLE fore-edge painting

London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, 1809. Hardcover. Stated 10th edition. 8vo (8.75 x 5.7 inches), full contemporary horizontally grained rich red leather gilt, very good, light rubbing, with double-fore-edge paintings -- shows a plaza in one direction, with pedestrians, horses and carriages, and a similar plaza in the other direction: someone more worldly than we are can probably identify the places. These are undoubtedly older fore-edge paintings, i. e. at least 50 years old. Very Good. Item #H17577
