Ino Kubo: Bilder aus seinem Lebenslauf zur Erinnerung an seinen 60. Geburtstag - inscribed to Emil Fröschels

Fukuoka: Publisher not identified, 1934. First printing. Hardcover. Quarto (12.25 x 9.5 inches), cloth, very good, inscribed by author to Emil Fröschels in 1935, with 3 short signed letters from 1935-1937 to Fröschels, one of which has a haiku first in Japanese and then in German, plus two printed new year's cards, one of which is signed. Short text in German and Japanese followed by 70 plates, mainly photos, some with mounted gravure photos. Ino. Kubo (1874-1939) was a Japanese pioneer of otorhinolaryngology and professor at Fukuoka Medical School (now part of Kyushu University); Emil Fröschels was a well known voice therapist and medical pioneer in laryngology. Ino Kubo and his wife were also well known for their interest in poetry and haiku and their house in Fukuoka became a sort of salon for the poets in that part of Japan. There is a more common fetschrift published in the same year, commemorating Ino Kubo's birthday, but this book of plates is decidely rare, hardly ever on the market, and only one located by OCLC, Univ. Zurich-Irchel. Very Good. Item #H17673
