Group of 40 offprints of articles, book reviews and essays on philosophy, philosophy of science, logic, space, time, geometry, Zeno, etc., from the collection of colleague Wilfrid Sellars

Paperback. Mainly very good in original wraps. Grunbaum had an extraordinary range and was considered one of the greatest philosophers of science of the 20th century. His colleague at the University of Pittsburgh, Wilfrid Sellars, was a major American philosopher who was the first to synthesize American pragmatism with Continental analytical philosophy and Vienna Circle logical positivism. He ranks with Carnap, Hempel, Salmon and Grunbaum as among the 20th century's most influential philosophers. Too many to list (see photos), but includes: Science and Man (1962), Geometry, Chronometry and Empiricism (1962), Science and Ideology (1954), Discussion of Hans Reichenbach's Rise of Scientific Philosophy (1953), Relativity, Causality and Weiss's Theory of Relations (1953), The Clock Paradox in the Special Theory of Relativity (1954), A Consistent Conception of the Extended Linear Continuum as an Aggregate of Unextended Elements (1952, 2 copies), Modern Science and Refutation of the Paradoxes of Zeno (1955, 2 copies, one signed by Sellars), Can We Ascertain the Falsity of a Scientific Hypothesis? (1969), Whitehead's Method of Extensive Abstraction (1953, some waterstaining, plus another copy in better shape), Time and Entropy (1955), Conventionalism in Geometry (1959), Is Falsifiability the Touchstone of Scientific Rationality? Karl Popper versus Inductivism (1976), The Meaning of Time (1971), Explication and implications of the Placebo Concept (1985), Is the Method of Bold Conjectures and Attempted Refutations Justifiably the Mewthod of Science? (1976), Epistemological Liabilitiues of the Clinical Appraisal of Psychoanalytic Theory (1979), Can n Infinitude of Operations be performed in a Finite Time? (1969), etc. Very Good. Item #H17743
