Hardcover. 8vo, cloth, very good, spine slightly mellowed, bookplate on pastedown must have had some adhesive along its edges which have caused a roughly rectangular abrasion on flyleaf (see pic). Statement inside that 100 copies have been printed, but this one not numbered. Light wear and loss along rear outer joint. 271 pp, ads. Bookplate is of Joseph Alfred Bradney, historian and archaeologist known for his multi volume history of Monmouthshire, Wales. This book is about Edward Somerset, Second Marquess of Worcester (1602-1667). In 1655 he published The Century of Inventions, detailing more than 100 inventions, including a device that would have been one of the earliest steam engines. Very Good. Item #H18429
