The Silver Moon - rare American song sheet from 1849

Lowell, MA: I. H. Welton, (1849). 10 x 6.75 inches, good copy with some wear, light stains, tanning, small holes and loss, probably from insect, to lower left, minor abrasions and residue from old album page to which this was affixed. A rare issue of a song better known as "Roll on, Silver Moon" (listed in Wolf's "American Song Sheets" under that title). OCLC locates only three copies of this Lowell imprint: AAS, New-York Historical Society, and Brown. Not in the LOC America Singing collection. The other variants do not have the woodcut of poor Edwin, engraved by George Emmons. An anti-war song, a lament from a woman about the loss of her lover or husband, "cut down like a rose in full bloom." Good. Item #H19195

Price: $100.00
