Philadelphia: Henry Altemus, 1897. First printing. Hardcover. 8vo, publisher's brick cloth, very good, lettering a little faded, lightest rubbing to bottom of front cover, calling card of the author loosely inserted with handwritten note to "Hon. H. C. Lodge with the compliments of..." -- probably inscribed to Henry Cabot Lodge, the Senator from Massachusetts. To resolve a border dispute over the Alaska-Canada boundary, an international tribunal was formed in 1903, whose members included three American politicians (Elihu Root, Henry Cabot Lodge and George Turner), two Canadians (Sir Allen Bristol Aylesworth and Sir Louis-Amable Jetté) and Lord Alverstone, Lord Chief Justice of England. The Canadian and American representatives favoured their respective governments’ territorial claims. 251 pp, illustrated, folding map. Very Good. Item #H19555
