Ca. 1920s booklet of postcards of Carcassone in southern France

Paris: Yvon, Ca. 1920. Paperback. 6 x 3.6 inches, booklet of 20 postcards, gravure photos in browntone, very good, minor wear. Carcassone is an ancient city in SW France near the Spanish border about 50 miles from Toulouse. The postcards concentrate on the citadel. Its citadel, known as the Cité de Carcassonne, is a medieval fortress dating back to the Gallo-Roman period and restored by the theorist and architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc in 1853. It was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997 because of the exceptional preservation and restoration of the medieval citadel. Very Good. Item #H19888
