Hardcover. 8vo, publisher's blindstamped brown cloth, gilt spine, very good, light wear, spine a little dull, with Eugene Field's bookplate, and inscription, "With compliments of the author's friend," and also the signature in different ink of Emily Clements. Nice association copy, linking "the poet of childhood" with the author of "The Story of a Bad Boy." Field and Aldrich were not close, but Field did attend the Chicago 1893 dinner given for Aldrich during the Columbian Exposition. Aldrich's second book, published when he was merely 21 years old.
