The Anus and Rectum: Their Physiology, Anatomy, and Pathology

New York: Published by the author, Ca. 1900. Paperback. Fourth and Enlarged Edition. 8vo, wraps, very good, light wear and soil to wraps, contents very good, 60 pp, illustrated, including a photo of Jamison's consulting room. Jamison's medical career was as a proctologist. He was an adherent of the theory of auto-intoxication, and advocated treating problems associated with the rectum by means of an enema. He was also a clairvoyant and an inventor of medical devices now categorized as quackery. Interestingly, the title on the cover is "How to Become Strong; Health Obtained, Ill-Health Prevented," possibly a concession to the customer's need for the possession of this book to not result in any awkward situations or raised eyebrows. Rare in commerce. Very Good. Item #H20514
