Frank O. Lowden, Governor of Illinois [promotional pamphlet issued in anticipation of his running for President]

Chicago: Allied Printing, Ca. 1920. Paperback. 8vo, wraps, 12 unnumbered pages, very good, light soil and handling to covers, in original mailing envelope that has some moderate soil and stains. Lowden was a Republican candidate for the Presidency in 1920 and this was one of his promotional campaign pamphlets. Lowden is remembered these days for his part in quelling the Chicago race riot of 1919 (initiated by white racists and which resulted in the deaths of 23 Black people and 15 white people). The mayor of Chicago refused for four days to let Lowden call in the National Guard. Lowden also shut down a pro-German rally in Chicago in 1917. He was pro-suffrage and pro-Volsted Act, anti-League of Nations. Very Good. Item #H21947
