Intercepted Letters; or, The Twopenny Post-Bag. To which are added Trifles Reprinted
London: J. Carr, 1813. Hardcover. Stated 10th edition. 12mo, 6.25 x 4 inches, contemporary half calf and marbled boards, very good, light wear and rubbing, contents very good with light occasional foxing. 109 pp, 1 page publisher's ads. Satirical verses by Thomas Moore, the Irish poet, with lots of references to contemporaries with the usual guessing game of names with missing letters. At least one makes fun of Irish Catholics: "When lo! an Irish Papist darted / Across my path, gaunt, grim and big -- / I did but frown, and off he started, / Scar'd at me even without my wig!" Very Good. Item #H23014
