Probably the first illustrated edition, small quarto, quarter dark green calf, dark green and black patterned boards, 500 pp, illustrated, very good, lightest rubbing to binding, contents show moderate foxing throughout, heaviest at the outermost pages front and rear, light occasional stains to contents. A rare edition; the first edition of this masterpiece was published in 1885; Vizitelly published an English translation in 1886 that included Ferat illustrations, so we suspect this is an edition from 1886.
