An unusually handsome journal showing west coast and Stanford influences and printing a number of youthful authors who would go on to distinguished literary careers. With an extremely early poem by Bishop while she was still at Vassar, "Hymn to the Virgin" Williams' "White Mule," poetry by Cunningham, Janet Lewis, Blackmur, etc. The Elizabeth Bishop poem is MacMahon C-31(b); it is her first poem published in a non-school-related journal; it was first printed in the Vassar literary journal "Con Spirito" unsigned. All of her previous poems were published either in her highschool or college journals. Very good. Item #H26030
