The Condition of the West India Slave contrasted with that of The Infant Slave in our English Factories

London: W. Kidd, (1835). First Printing. Wraps. 12mo, 6 x 3.75 inches, in contemporary marbled wraps, probably supplied judging from how sharp the corners are, but nicely done. 37 (1) pp, 12 etched plates by Robert Cruikshank. Important work of social justice, contrasting the filthy and prison-like circumstances of child labor's 12 hour days with the supposedly better conditions in the Caribbean. Has not appeared at auction since 2008 when a disbound copy sold for $300 at the Baltimore Book Auction. Very good. Item #H26278

Price: $450.00
