The Dublin Review, Vol. V, New Series, July & October, 1865

London: Burns, Lambert & Oates, 1865. Hardcover. Bound volume in half green pebbled morocco and marbled boards, very good, some scuffing to leather, bookplate of the Carnegie Free Library in Allegheny PA and pencil numbers on flyleaf, small ink note and stamp on first page of the table of contents, no other marks, pages very good, light toning. Founded as a Catholic magazine, although it was published and edited from London, Quin enlisted the support of Daniel O'Connell, whose Catholic emancipation campaign was admired by both Quin and Wiseman. This volume includes articles and reviews on public school education, the Christian Schools of Alexandria, Celtic Language and Dialects, Madame Recamier, Rome-Unionism-Indifferentism, a proposed manual of English history, Pusey on Daniel, Mexico, Canada, massacre of St. Bartholomew, Mr. Oxenham and the Dublin Review, Catholicism in Geneva, the doctrinal decrees in the case of Galileo, the Irish land question, Calderwood and Mill on Hamilton, etc. Very good.
