In two parts, both complete. 8vo, 7 x 4.5 inches, old calf, fair copy, boards detached, general rubbing and wear to boards and binding, title page to first part edgeworn and trimmed a quarter inch narrower, contents otherwise good to very good with some tanning and foxing. 181 & 176 pp. First published in two volumes in 1691, when King was a young man and before he was called to the bar, it was influential on John Wesley's thought and also piqued the interest of King's cousin, John Locke, who recommended that King study at Leiden University, which he did for three years. King was also a member of Parliament, representing Bere Alston in Devon, holding the seat until 1715. Could benefit from a rebind! Fair. Item #H27095
