Corrected Second Edition (first issued in 1792). 2 volumes, 9 x 5.5 inches, contemporary horizontally grained deep burgundy calf gilt, very good, minor wear and rubbing, short 3" repaired tear to folding map of Rome, contents very good and bright, verso of frontispiece has an ink note on this book that takes up most of the page, signed Henry Norwich, 1832; the signature conforms to online examples of the signature of Henry Bathurst, Bishop of Norwich (1744-1837), a prominent Whig and considered the most prominent "liberal" bishop in the House of Lords for his support for Catholic emancipation.
