Cambridge: Printed by M. Finner for W. Thurlbourn, 1735. Hardcover. Sixth edtion, and from what we can tell, the first edition to print three additional sermons (the fifth edition printed one additional sermon). 8vo, contemporary calf, very good, light wear and rubbing, spine label a little worn; with bookplate of Philip Stanhope, Earl of Chesterfield, the great English wit and man of letters, author of "Letters To His Son." Contents quite bright and clean. This volume prints the original eight sermons published in 1692 plus three additional sermons from July 5, 1696 when he proceeded Doctor in Divinity, another before the University, Nov. 5, 1715 and one before George I, Feb. 3, 1716. (8) 396 pp. There is a vignette on the title showing one of the schemes for building a new Senate House in conjunction with a new facade to the Library what was called at the time an "Attachment-Scheme." Stanhope's library was sold off by Sotheby's in 1770. Very good. Item #H27600
