Large paper edition, 12 x 9.25 inches, full contemporary dark olive-brown blind-stamped leather, good with some light general rubbing to joints and edges of boards, front hinge a little weak and strained. With brilliant frontispiece original painting of Count Grammont by George Perfect Harding, a well known miniaturist and water-colorist. This volume with 30 mounted portrait plates on india proof paper, each one identified in pencil, plus a few additional extra plates. Bookseller's note that this was the copy of William Esdaile (1758-1837, English banker and print collector); the first blank has the ink note "1816 WE -- No. 440x -- 2 vol." Bookplate of Ralph Edward Lambton, who apparently was a great collector of books, prints and English porcelain. Good. Item #H28409
