Mexico City: El Colegio de Mexico, 1945. First Printing. Wraps. 8vo, wraps, very good, light wear and fading/discoloration to wraps, contents tanning. Inscribed by Aub to Robert Lima, a poet, playwright and Penn State professor of Hispanic and Latin American literature and drama. Aub, a Spanish-Mexican author and critic, was a lifelong member of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party. As a cultural attache in Paris during the Spanish Civil War, Aub was responsible for the exhibition and promotion of Picasso's "Guernica." He was the author of over 100 books, many of which were well received novels. Denounced by the Spanish government in 1939, he was first in a prison camp, but escaped and made his way to Mexico, where he found work as a screen writer, befriended Luis Bunuel, and became a full citizen of Mexico by 1955. Books signed by him are very uncommon. Very good. Item #H28457
