Sabbath School Bell no. 2, inscribed
New York: Published by Horace Waters, 1860. First Printing. Hardcover. 6 x 5 inches, publisher's heavily gilt decorated cloth, very good, light wear. With bookplate of the Foster Hall collection of Joseph Kirby Lilly (and withdrawn stamp). Inscribed on flyleaf, "Mrs. R. A. Daggett, Compts of the Publisher." 185 pp, ads. Horace Waters was a hymnologist and publisher, a frequent musical collaborator with Stephen Collins Foster and with Susan Parkhurst. An interesting association copy: Waters' 1852 edition of the songs of Foster list the copyright holder as E. A. Daggett, Waters' son in law and co-publisher. It would seem this is inscribed to a relative of his inlaws. Very good. Item #H29220
