Deleytar Approvechando, 2 volumes bound in one, 1765
Madrid: Antonio Marin, 1765. Hardcover. Published 1765, 2 volumes bound in one, in recent flame calf with black gilt title label, (16) 502 (8) 372 pp, text block seems slightly trimmed all the way around, the first title page has some stains to it, but a lovely copy of this rare book, a mix of prose and poetry that comprised the author's second book, published first in Madrid in 1635, containing essays, "auto sacramentales," and three tales. The author, now thought as one of the greatest playwrights of baroque Spain, flourished in the mid 17th century, writing poetry, dramas, short stories, etc., notable for the inclusion of many female protagonists and his frank exploration of sexuality, showing the clear influence of Boccaccio. Very Good. Item #H2986
