1931 typed letter, signed, declining an invitation to speak at an American Library Association event
On her Washington DC letterhead, Rinehart addresses her letter to Dorothy Hopkins, Abbot Academy in Andover, MA, declining an invitation to participate in the School Library section of the American Library Association, because she was getting ready to go away for the summer. She also makes clear that she wouldn't have given a speech anyway. "For years the importunities to make public speeches have been so many that I have had to be very firm in a resolution to decline them all in order to save my strength for writing." Very good.
