Cincinnati: John S. Williams, 1842-1844. Hardcover. Tall 8vo, 10.5 x 6.25 inches, in early 20th century black half leather and black cloth boards, good with some wear to corners and spine ends, light rubbing and scattered white smudges to boards, contents very good, usual tanning, occasional foxing. The first year of this journal, Vol. I nos. 1-12, January-December, 1842; the journal lasted for 22 issues and ceased in late 1843. This volume has an 1844 title page and an index. Each issue with at least a frontispiece woodcut or lithograph; the 7th issue has map of Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt. Much on the Ohio Valley both in Ohio and in Western Pennsylvania and parts of West Virginia and Maryland, on Indian captivity narratives and primary information on various military campaigns including the French and Indian War, Revolution, Whiskey Rebellion, etc. In spirit, much like Neville Craig's "The Olden Time" which also came out in the 1840s.
