(Shippensburg): Beistle Co., Ca. 1920s-30s. 10.5 x 7.75 inches. No date, publisher or any such information, but purchased in a group of similar satirical broadsheet cartoons from the 1920s-30s, many of which were published by the Beistle Co. in Shippensburg, PA, so we're presuming these were printed by them, too. Light wear and toning, some tanning, some with creases from mailing, one with some small tears repaired with pH-neutral document repair tissue on its verso, one dated 1934, a couple with small pencil notes ("Club Woman" identifies one of the women as "Harriet" and "Bar Fly" identifies the bartender as "The Fox"). With satirical verses lampooning the subjects: Radio Bug, Tax Dodger, Club Woman (2 different ones, and one slightly larger and more tanned), Love Birds, Bar Fly, and Friendly Neighbors. These are often classified as vinegar valentines (there are red hearts in some of the images): cheeky pictures with sarcastic and slightly mean-spirited verse. Very good. Item #H30690
