The Breaking Point

New York: George H. Doran, 1922. First Printing. Hardcover. Probably a first printing, but does not have the Doran logo on copyright page; Doran became much more consistent in using that logo to denote first printings in ensuing years. 8vo, bound in full red leather gilt, very good, light rubbing and dryness to joints. With sticker on rear pastedown from Preservation Technologies stating this was deacidified with their patented process. We purchased a large number of similarly bound Rinehart books from a local institution that was deaccessioning duplicates and were told that these were Rinehart family copies, but have no proof of this. Elizabeth Wheeler lives in a small town, sings in the church choir, and dreams of a man who will sweep her off her feet. Instead, she is thrust into a series of events beyond her control leading to passion, madness, betrayal, and ultimately, murder! Can she ever set things right? Very good. Item #H30859
