OCLC locates 8 holdings of the first edition: LOC, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and five in South Africa. M. M. Sehlodimela was a South African author who wrote in the Sepedi language. He was born in 1904 in the village of Molema, Transvaal, and died in 1975. Sehlodimela was a teacher by profession, and he taught at schools in Molema and Lebowakgomo. He also served as a magistrate in the Lebowakgomo district. Sehlodimela began writing in the 1940s, and his first book, Moelelwa, was published in 1940. Moelelwa is a novel about a young man who is torn between the traditional values of his culture and the modern world. Sehlodimela's other works include the novels Tsa Maabane (1953) and Bala o Tsebe (1964), as well as the short story collection Dithuto tsa Sesomane (1956). Sehlodimela's work is considered to be an important contribution to Sepedi literature. He was one of the first Sepedi authors to write novels, and his work helped to promote the use of Sepedi as a literary language. Sehlodimela's work is also notable for its exploration of social and political issues, such as the impact of colonialism on African society. Good. Item #H31597
