Full calf, very good but some wear and crude gluing to outer joints, contents very good. The author was a fairly well known Spanish novelist, poet, journalist and essayist, whose literary star descended with his embrace of Francoist politics. The recipient, Bonsal, was an AT&T executive in Europe, fluent in Spanish, who later became a lifelong diplomatl, US ambassador to a number of South American countries and last ambassador (1959) to Cuba.
