Quarto, 11 x 8 inches, contemporary calf boards with recent spine and supplied flyleaves, very good, general moderate rubbing, discoloration and wear to covers, contents in very good bright condition, with old 1889 inscription to a Bertha M. Broadwood (an important person in the history of nursing in Surrey). With elaborate woodcut title page, text bright and clean, occasional light stains and one or two very old annotations. "Cotgrave's Dictionarie was, by a considerable margin, the most extensive French word-list of its time" (ODNB). Collates complete but for a preliminary blank and a terminal blank.
