A War Photographer in Thrace, An Account of Personal Experiences during the Turco-Balkan War, 1912

London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1913. First Printing. Hardcover. 8vo, publisher's rose cloth, very good, light wear and discoloration, small stains, to binding, spine a tad faded, contents very good: "GERALD" written on flyleaf, light wear and foxing, inner hinges slightly strained but not cracked, some light abrasions to rear pastedown. We've seen online alternative bindings in a deeper red with gilt decoration on front cover and think this might be either a remainder binding or perhaps a colonial issue. 312 pp, many plates. As of this listing, the next copy up in price is $318. The 1912 war, which pitted the Ottoman empire against a consortium of countries including Bulgaria, Montenegro, Greece and Serbia, proved disastrous for the Ottomans and the Turks especially; they lost 85% of their empire and nearly 70% of their European population in the conflict. Very good. Item #H35129
