Small folio (13.5 inches; 34 cm), rebound in modern leather retaining the original tree-calf boards, paginated 253-437 with index, subscribers' list, directions for the binder for placing the plates. 44 full page plates and dozens of in-text engravings of eyes, brows, ears, hands, faces, etc. Of interest are the two full page engravings of George Washington done during his life. Pages show occasional stains and foxing, with occasional damp staining to bottom margin, not going into text or images, binding is handsome. Most of the plates were engraved by Thomas Holloway.
