The Comic History of Rome, 2 volumes, large paper edition, with mounted plates throughout, finely bound

London: Bradbury, Agnew and Co., 1880. Hardcover. 2 volumes, published 1880, quarto (10.5 inches, 27 cm), finely bound in half burgundy morocco gilt by Bayntun, an unusual format with all of Leech's in-text illustrations printed on yellow india proof paper and mounted on the pages, plus a total of 10 steel-engraved colored plates, also mounted on pages. An unusual deluxe format, and we can find no matching auction records for similar copies. Fine with just a touch of rubbing here and there, faint small red stain to fore edge of the text block of volume one, probably can be removed without much trouble, very light foxing to preliminary and terminal pages. We are sure this was limited but there is no statement of limitation. 418 total pages. Near Fine. Item #H3665
